Coarse and fine product fractions are created in an air classifier by the drag force created by an airstream and the mass force created by a rotating classifier wheel. Dispersion takes place when gas enters the classifier at high velocity through a spiral housing and wing beater located at the bottom of the machine.

The separation of coarse and fine particles is accomplished by an adjustable classifier wheel. The fines exit the machine via the centrally located classifier wheel. Coarse particles are rejected by the classifier wheel and discharged through the bottom of the classifier housing.

CFS/HD-S High Efficiency Fine Classifier

The product is fed into the machine from above through the feeder. Process gas enters through the air inlet next to the feeder. The gas transports the product through the numerous adjustable guide vane slots of a static guide vane basket. Here the highly dispersed product is presented to the classifier wheel.

The controlled rotation of the classifier wheel separates the coarse and fine particles. The fines exit the machine via the classifier wheel. Coarse particles are rejected by the classifier wheel and discharged through the rear of the spiral housing. The coarse outlet is located on the underside of the housing.

For difficult applications, the purity of the coarse fraction can be altered by the position of the coarse material guide vane.
