Impact Milling with Classification

The product to be ground enters the mill either pneumatically or through gravity. Size reduction takes place between the horizontally positioned grinding rotor and a peripheral grinding track. The beaters of the grinding disc propel the product particles against the milling track.

The classifier wheel is connected to the grinding rotor and equipped with an adjustable base plate. The position of the base plate can be adjusted from outside the machine during operation via an axially mobile drive shaft.

The product to be milled is fed either through gravity via a feeder or pneumatically via an injector. The feed material and internally re-circulating product is presented to the internal air classifier wheel where ground products and fines in the feed are classified and discharged from the mill.
In the grinding rotor hammers accelerate the product against the grinding track.

The geometry of the hammers and grinding track are designed such that the angle and velocity of impact create optimal particles. The milling and classifying gas is drawn into the housing and flows through the gap between the grinding rotor and track. The ground particles are conveyed by the process gas through the guide ring and directly to the variable speed air classifier.
